[Japan] CoCo curry house + Splodey’s fig collection grows, and more Akiba

Seriously, this post. Idk what to even say about it. So these few days I’ve been gaming with Minecraft and Halo 4 with a friend, and same friend who watches Gintama with me as well. So we went to this CoCo curry place in Japan, that’s a chain so you can find their curry in many places. If you LOVE spicy food this is the place to go!

They let you choose from levels 1 – 10, or just the sweet-ish taste of usual Japanese curry with nearly no spiciness in it. But this is literally a place that just sells curry. So, here we go, I decided to start with a level 5 first, and holy shit it’s pretty damn good curry with good spice!

Very nice! Level 5 is a good level for me. Still spicy, still tastes good. My friend and I then decided we’d try higher levels, and well, we did. He picked 7 and I picked 8. Needless to say, we both died. The reason was because the spice was something we didn’t like. They add in pepper. Which is kind of gross for curry, especially Japanese curry. You can literally SEE the pepper and smell it in the curry, which isn’t very pleasant. I don’t like curry that literally dumps pepper in there, it doesn’t taste good.

[Japan] Rejoice fujoshi (and fudanshi), it exists – THE YAOI CAFE

I’m not kidding you. For Splodey went to said yaoi cafe today. No no, there’s no live display of yaoi etc or even yaoi shows and stuffs for you to watch, no. For me it’s the best place, because I can read all the raw BL manga that I want to read. Yes, you heard it right – this is more like a yaoi LIBRARY rather than just a cafe where they sell like yaoi-themed food etc. /coughs < not sure if I would eat yaoi-themed foods?!

It’s in Ikebukuro, and pretty much along Otome Road, I guess? I was brought there by my Japanese fujoshi friend, and I brought Shirato along with me as well so, we decided to spend about 3 hours there! And lo and behold, allow me to show you the awesomeness of this shop!

Yep, there’s a little board there telling you that it’s right there! Also, this is their website. As you can see, it’s all Japanese, so if you really want to make your way there, you need to make sure you have studied up to intermediate and above in order to make full use of your time there. It’s not cheap! (In terms of JLPT, maybe N3 with a good pass mark might be okay?)

Go in the building, and you’ll see a huge poster proclaiming YES THIS IS YAOI CAFE, 801 = ya-o-i.

[Japan] Splodey’s adventure to Animate, finds kurobasu goods BUYS NONE + IKEMEN IN THIS POST

So, yes, about 2 days ago I went to the Animate store about 2 train stops away from my place just to buy a friend a present, because it’s his birthday. He’s my Gintama-buddy here. ;D Yeah I didn’t buy any Kurobasu things shame on me

So I went with another friend, who is my flatmate, who also watches Gintama and who also enjoys yaoi to an extent. (I didn’t even know until I made it clear myself that I liked BL, and she said the same thing too, and haha we’re good friends from then on. I didn’t even know she liked these until I spoke to her. /o\ How lucky can I be…)

We went to Saizeriya which is a family restaurant (ファミレス) that you might have heard so much about. It’s basically those kind of huge fast-food-ish kind of restaurant where you can sit there for a long time, and no one will chase you out. :) You can also get the drink bar set for ¥180 at Saizeriya and free-flow drinks for you! The stuffs are not meant to be overly expensive, but they aren’t very cheap either. If you’re looking for cheap, you want to try Matsuya (松屋) instead. But if you want to be able to sit comfortably down for some time and chat with friends, a family restaurant is the one place you want to go to for a proper meal and chatting. For Matsuya, it’d be better if you cleared your seats as soon as you’re done with your food in order to let more customers get in (especially during JAPANESE LUNCH TIME RUSH and dinner time).

So we finished lunch and headed down to the Animate store that was nearby the restaurant too. This one isn’t as big as the one in Akihabara, but it would be ridiculous to make our trip down there since it’ll take like 40 mins++ to get there. It’s a pain in the butt, so we just settled for the one nearby.

So let me show you some little bits of findings I got while shopping and hanging out at Animate…
